Interior

Nine unique photographic objects from the early days of the pandemic.

Interior 01
$650.00

10” x 10” (Framed)
May 2020
Unique Piece

Interior is a series of nine unique instant photographs created in May 2020 as meditations on what it means to be confined, the innate desire to look outward, and the uncertainty of our personal boundaries.

Each photograph is a different view from one of the windows in my New York City apartment, sometimes looking out, sometimes looking in. I had always thought of the apartment as having great light and feeling open, but claustrophobia quickly set in during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. It only then occurred to me that all of the windows looked onto internal courtyards and other tenants’ windows. There was no real view of the outside world – only other shared interior spaces.

Almost two years later, these pictures serve as physical reminders of that place and time. Each is presented in jewel-like fashion, with a preciousness that invites you to lean in and contemplate what’s being seen and what lies just beyond.

Framed with Museum Glass® for ideal optical clarity and three-dimensional effect. Hanging wire and felt pads installed. Mounting hardware included.

Unique instant print on Fuji black and white Instax film. 3.33” x 2.13” sheet size, 1.81” x 2.44” image size.

Signed on verso, accompanies by a Certificate of Authenticity and care instruction card.

Flat rate shipping ($10 domestic, $50 international). Shipped in archival-grade packing materials.

Special Editions

The Guggenheim, Winter
$0.00

I made this picture of the Guggenheim Museum in February 2020, on my last trip to visit the museum before it was forced to close by the global pandemic. There is a cool, crisp quality of light that has always stood out to me as a particular idiosyncrasy of winters in New York City, and here it adds another dimension to Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic 5th Avenue building. I used to live just a few blocks from the Guggenheim and would pass it a few times per week – it’s a place that never looks the same twice.

This is a 13” x 19” pigment print on Moab Juniper Baryta Rag 305g archival paper, with a light glossy finish (10 “ x 15” image area). This print is a closed edition of 10 (plus two artist’s proofs) with each print individually numbered by hand.
